Christie Anderson has been practicing yoga for 12 years and has been teaching for 8. She received a Hatha yoga certification at Samasati Nature Retreat in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.
"I got into yoga after talking with a few people who practiced yoga. They spoke so passionately and seemed to be really happy people, so I decided to check it out. I was in Encinitas CA, which is kind of a yoga mecca, when I took my first yoga class. I felt like I was floating after class. It was an amazing feeling and it really stuck with me. I wanted to feel that way again, so I kept coming back.
Yoga is such a great life tool; for me it’s a necessity. I feel like my life is more productive with yoga, and it has helped improve the quality of my life and my health. Yoga is much more than a workout, it is a way of living and a way of being. I feel like if everyone did yoga the world would be a better place.
I decided to start teaching after taking so many classes, I just wanted to share what I found from yoga myself. I was interested to learn more about the ancient practice and enrolled in an intensive training. Yoga had done so much for me, and I wanted to spread the joy."
In her teaching, Christie always encourages students to immerse themselves in their own experience, “This is your time, this is your space, just do what feels good- I encourage people to stay present, in a judgement free zone and have a good experience.”
